Facebook Boosts vs Ads Manager - Differences and Similarities Between Meta's Advertising Tools

blog-detail-img

Today, every business needs to establish its unique advertising goals before placing ads on Facebook, Instagram, or other Meta platforms. To achieve some of these goals, it’s enough to “boost” a post, while for more complex goals, creating personalized ads is necessary.

In this blog, you’ll learn about the differences and similarities between boosted posts and ads in Meta technologies and when they should be used.

What is a "boosted" post?

A boosted post is the promotion of a post published on a page’s timeline, with a certain budget for a relevant audience. This is the simplest way to advertise on Facebook. These ads differ from Facebook ads because they are not created in Meta Ads Manager and don’t have the same personalization features.

When you boost a post, it appears in the target audience’s Facebook Feed as an ad. You can also choose Instagram for ad placement.

When boosting a post, you tell FB 3 things:

  • Target audience – who you want to reach with your ad
  • Your maximum budget for the campaign
  • How long you want the campaign to be active

After confirming the ad, it will appear in your target audience’s News Feed.

What are Facebook ads?

Although boosted posts are still considered ads, Facebook ads are created through Ads Manager and offer more personalization and flexibility. There are many advertising targeting tools that will help you achieve specific business goals and reach the audience that interests you the most.
