Meet the New IT Project Management Lecturer, Mariam Bakradze

blog-detail-img

"I think IT project management is gaining popularity due to the rapid development of technology. It is, both literally and figuratively, a profession of the future."

Before an IT product reaches us as a functioning website or application, it goes through quite a long journey. To ensure that everyone’s interests and desires are taken into account while working on the product, an IT project manager is needed.

There is a very high demand for IT project managers in both Georgian and foreign markets. The popularization of remote work has further increased employment opportunities. Amazon, Google, and other companies of similar caliber have already announced fully remote vacancies. According to the Project Management Institute (PMI), by 2027, 88 million project managers will be needed worldwide in various fields.

So, if you’re interested in this field, now is a very good time to master this profession. In this blog, I’ll introduce you to Mariam Bakradze, the lecturer of IT Project Management.

IT Project Management: Profession and Experience

The first company Mariam started collaborating with was DoSo Management – a software development company where she first became interested in the IT field.

"Everyone was sitting at two connected monitors, writing words I didn't understand in colored fonts on a black screen. I really wanted to know what they were doing and started asking lots of questions. This was the first moment in my life when the IT field interested me."

As Mariam’s career developed, her interest in the IT field grew over time. After a certain stage, Mariam worked for companies such as TBC Insurance and Adjarabet, where she achieved significant career advancement.

IT Project Management

13 Sessions 39 Hours 7 Weeks

"When I became an employee of TBC Insurance, my responsibilities included planning 2-week sprints for product development (Core, Web, Digital Services): processing stakeholder requirements and distributing tasks to team members, monitoring development progress, assembling and configuring layouts for new modules, preparing SQL queries for reporting, testing and managing releases, post-release bug fixing, etc."

Currently, Mariam is the head of portfolio management at Adjarabet. Her team consists of 12 portfolio managers who, in turn, manage 8 strategic portfolios for all structural directions in Adjarabet.

"I'm actively working to implement new and improve current processes, as well as share my experience with team members and help solve complex issues. Everyone in the team has the ambition to deliver the best quality in the shortest time, so we work using the highest international standards."

Important Skills

Since each project is unique in its content, risks, failures, and successes, they come with “surprises.” According to Mariam, it’s precisely from these surprises that you learn lessons that help you manage future projects to avoid making the same mistakes. So, in her opinion, communication is the most important aspect of project management.

"The most labor-intensive part is communication."

Along with communication, dedication is important. Mariam says that if you’re dedicated and constantly work on yourself, gradually the sun will come out and you’ll see the way, and you’ll learn to distinguish road signs. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and ask for help. The more questions you come up with, the better you’ll understand a specific issue and the longer you’ll remember it.

About the Course:

Mariam advises that if you want theory to turn into knowledge and use it effectively, it’s necessary to start applying what you’ll take from Commschool in practice.

"When something is effective can be learned theoretically, but I think nothing can teach effectiveness as well as practice. Every project is an innovation and creates some new product or service; dynamic and novelty-loving people like being in this role the most."

Commschool’s IT Project Management course includes practice-based learning where you’ll be able to master the art of communication and project management.

So, if you’re a novelty-loving, dynamic person and ready to master a profession of the future, we’re waiting for you at Commschool. The IT Project Management course starts on February 26th!
